I was a classmate of Scott's at Hofstra Law back in the late 1980's. Like everyone else, I was shocked and saddened to hear of his very untimely passing. I remember "Rutz" as a fun-loving and upbeat guy who, despite his brilliance, was very modest and unassuming. Scott always had a huge smile on his face and was always great to be around. His is a huge loss to his community and to the Hofstra family. My sincerest condolences to his wife and children. May you know only happiness.

Jill - I wish I had something magical to tell you and your family. Sincere sympathies. You two shined as a couple, as parents, and as a team; those memories will be with you, Jake, Carly and Jaden forever. I am so very sorry for your loss. Channeling strength, energy and love your way.

No words can describe the shock and sense of loss I feel at the passing of my former partner and friend Scott Rutsky. He was, without question, an excellent lawyer. But he was an even better human being. I saw his kindness, compassion, friendship and wit every day for nearly 5 years. Very shocked and saddened to hear of Scott's passing and want to express my greatest condolences to Jill and the family. I worked with Scott on several business matters over the years and both consider him an outstanding professional and friend. You will be greatly missed!

My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. I remember Scott's good heart in the days of when he opened his Hamptons home up to all his friends and to those he knew not yet made no differentiation, as he did with me and my sister. I long ago knew this gracious gift of God and so I must bow down this day in his honor.

Scott was my law partner, and Scott and Jill were great friends of Barbara and me. On Wednesday May 17, 2017, Scott made history appearing in the first ever PROMESA Title III case. His strategies developed with his ingenuity and brilliance will continue to drive the saving of Puerto Rico, a mission never-before attempted.
