Not sure what to say?

So sad to hear of Scotts passing. We taught together at Nixon Elementary in Hiawatha, Iowa

I don't even remember when we met Scott. I think it may have been when I was Nanny to a family whose children attended BCS. Gerry and Scott shared many conversations on education. At one point in time, they had their students playing chess through the mail (which was just across town...). Gerry taught at BCS the final year that BCS was up in one of the Fairhaven Towers, before moving to McKenzie Ave. I too was lucky to teach with Scott and Kendall for a number of years and our daughter was...

Scott Stodola was a deeply kind and giving person. His generosity of spirit and strength of character added much, to all of us who knew him. The world was a better place because Scott was here.
I am privileged to be able to call him my friend.

I still often feel gratitude for having Scott as my teacher at BCS. He was a huge positive influence in my life as a child and some of my favorite memories come from my time with him. Because of Scott, I have a deep appreciation for poetry and fondly remember the Carl Sandburg poems he read to us. Thank you, Scott, for your love of teaching. I will never forget you. Sending lots of love to Jenifer, Geoff, and Matt.

The impact of knowing Scott on our entire family can't easily be summarized here. Scott influenced us as teachers first and then as we became parents. His kind, gentle, spirit infused our lives with great appreciation for both the spoken word and written word. His friendship with Kendall was always a joy to be a part of. We loved walking in his garden and his playfulness with kids and adults. We are forever grateful for the years he taught our daughter as well as us. So many images of Scott...

I will remember Scott as a thoughtful and intentional educator, a devoted advocate for inspiring young learners, and a dedicated friend. He has served as one of the most influential mentors of my 35 years of teaching, yet, no spark made his eyes twinkle more than the arrival of his grandchildren. He was a gift to this world.

I will remember Scott as a special teacher of my two children years ago, both an accomplished educator who encouraged creativity and a love of nature , and a kind and personable friend to all. He made a difference in all of our lives . Carol Derleth

I will remember Scott as one of the organizers of the poetry evenings at the Firehouse, which I greatly enjoyed.
