Roney Funeral Home Obituary

Scott T. Wade, 64, passed away April 25, 2013 following an illness. He is survived by his beloved wife, best friend and soul mate Lois J. (Teikari) Wade, his daughters Jennifer Ellis and her husband Warren Jim, Katy Barrows and her husband Scot and Carrie Wade, his grandchildren Joshua, Anthony, Andrew and Thomas Ellis, Kyle and Kayleigh Barrows and Maia Rose Milestone, his great-grandchildren Alivia Rose Ellis, Luciana Flores, and London Victoria Ellis, his siblings Stephen W. Wade and his wife Maureen, Keith D. Wade and his wife Coleen, Paul Wade, Leah Wade-King, Mark Gardell and his wife Lisa, Kevin Gardell and Shawn Gardell and his wife Karen along with several nieces and nephews. Scott was born in Oak Park, IL February 17, 1949, son of the late Audrey (Cowles) and William H. Wade. Scott grew up in Worcester, MA and graduated from Leicester High School and then met his wife Lois. They lived in Shrewsbury for many years raising their family there. Those who knew Scott will remember how he was always working. He worked as a baker while he earned his Bachelor's Degree at Worcester State College. He then earned his M.T.S. in Pastoral Care from Boston University while working in area nursing homes as a social worker. He also worked at the Henry Willis Substance Abuse Center as he continued to advance his career as a mental health professional. Scott never stopped furthering his education as he then earned his C.A.S in Marital and Family Therapy and his C.A.G.S. in Advanced Counseling from Fitchburg State College. Scott found his calling early in life as he was fulfilled most by counseling those with substance and alcohol abuse problems and guiding them on their journey to recovery. Scott also attended the Northborough Baptist School of Ministry and paired this education with his M.T.S. and became the pastor at the Union Congregational Church in South Grafton for more than 14 years of beloved service with the congregation there. Scott's family and friends will remember his uncompromising passion to help others, the true joy he found in preaching, his strong will and independent spirit, and how he adored his children and grandchildren who will dearly miss their beloved "Bumpy", the name given to him by his first grandson Joshua. When he wasn't at work Scott loved the ocean, especially Drake's Island in Maine. He also was an avid reader, particularly of science fiction as he was a "Trekkie" for many years, and he could often be found tending to his bountiful vegetable garden. Scott's family and friends will also fondly remember his love for signaling the start of each summer with a Memorial Day barbeque at his home. Scott will be greatly missed by his wife, his family and friends and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His family would like to thank The Davita Dialysis Center in Worcester for their compassion and kindness, the staff and doctors at UMass Memorial Healthcare, the Visiting Nurse Association of Southborough and the staff at Christopher House in Worcester for their loving care. In lieu of flowers his family requests that you honor Scott with donations to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike Suite 300 Rockville, MD 20852 or online at www.Kidneyfund.org.
