Scott Kelly Wilkins

NORFOLK, VA: Scott Kelly WILKINS, 46, died Wednesday, August 21, 2013 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, Virginia after an extended illness.

Mr. Wilkins was born Monday, July 17, 1967 to Marmaduke and Barbara Crews Wilkins in Brooklyn, New York.

His aunts Rev. Loretta Norris and Roberta Hill brought Scott to Mansfield at an early age to raise with their families. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School, and served in the United States Air Force. After his discharge from the Air Force Scott spent his time between New York, Mansfield, and Virginia where he spent the last 2 ½ years in Newport News. While in Newport News Scott was employed with Fenner Construction Company. He was a member of the Greater Mitchell Chapel AME Church.

Scott is survived by his wife, Veda Wilkins, Randallstown, Maryland; his mother, Barbara Wilkins, Mansfield; and his father, Marmaduke Wilkins, Brooklyn, New York; five daughters, Lachelle Brooks, Hampton, Virginia, Kadija Hamlin, Newport News, Naeshawn Wilkins, Bronx, New York, Shariyah Davis, Mansfield, and Laurin Freeman, Georgia; two sons, Jacari Wilkins, Newport News, and Justin Wilkins, Randallstown; a brother, Michael Wilkins, Brooklyn, New York; an additional aunt, Evang. Norma (Elmo) Bean, Euclid, and Arnetta Wilkins, Brooklyn; and a host of cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, in the Greater Mitchell Chapel AME Church at 11 a.m. with his pastor Rev. Louise Jackson officiating and his former pastor Rev. Brandon Davis delivering the eulogy.

The family will receive friends at the home of Scott's mother Barbara at 466 Hammond Ave. and his Aunt Loretta at 525 Daisy St.
