Sean K. McDonald''s grandfather loved catching up with his grandson on occasional trips he made to visit his extended family in Minnesota. "He was a patriot," Ron McDonald said. "I didn''t like the idea of him enlisting, even though I''m a veteran, but thank God for young people like Sean." McDonald, 21, of Rosemount, Minn., was killed by a roadside bomb March 25 in Baghdad. He was assigned to Wiesbaden, Germany. McDonald spent his teenage years in the Netherlands while his father was serving in the Air Force. "He was a super kid, loved soccer, a very good young man," said his grandfather. He held dual citizenship and enlisted in the Army when he turned 18. "He always wanted to be an American soldier," said his sister, Jessica McDonald. "It was something he decided to do as he got older, to give him a purpose in his life." He also is survived by his parents, Russell and Marleen McDonald. "Career-wise, he wasn''t sure what exactly he wanted to do after the Army, but he was definitely set to come back home here when he was done," said his sister. "Sean was very patriotic, proud to be an American. He was dedicated to this country."

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the McDonald Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. ...
