Sean Joseph Lewis, 35 Sean Joseph Lewis, 35, passed away peacefully at home in Coeur d' Alene, ID on September 6, 2009 from a rare form of thyroid cancer. Sean was born on October 28, 1973 to Dolores Anne and Mark Joseph Lewis in Wichita, KS. Sean grew up in Wichita and attended Kapaun Mt. Carmel High School. He attended Creighton University in Omaha, NE where he ran Division I cross-country and established a new school record. He graduated from Creighton in 1996. In 2001 he received his masters in physical therapy from Marymount University in Washington D.C.. While there he found the love of his life, Kerri Moretz. They were married on June 14, 2003. He went on to finish his doctorate in physical therapy from Simmons College in 2004. Sean and Kerri moved to Coeur d' Alene, ID in June, 2004. He worked as a physical therapist with River City Physical Therapy. On February 28, 2006 Kerri gave birth to their son, Blake. Kerri is expecting their second son in October. Sean was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. He was an avid runner, mountain biker and snow skier. Sean loved a good day skiing, and he NEVER had a bad day on the slopes. He is survived by his wife Kerri, son Blake, mother Dolores, father Mark, sisters Michele Magnuson and Danielle Ganesh, and brothers Chris and Brian. Charlie will miss his walks to Tubbs Hill and Jack will miss lying in Sean's lap. A viewing will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d' Alene from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10th with a Vigil starting at 7:00 p.m.. The funeral mass will be at St. Thomas Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11th with a reception to follow. Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of the final arrangements.In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of North Idaho.

I was just looking up Sean because my wife and I had discussed going to Wichita, Kansas for possible medical care and I thought he might have set up practice there in his home town. Unfortunately, I just found out he died 13 years ago. We were housemates at Creighton with Doug Hoffman. I was in dental school, Doug was in law school, and Sean was trying to get into physical therapy school. I remember he had not been formally accepted into physical therapy school but was on the waiting list...
