Obituary

Sean Price, influential New York rapper and member of hip hop duo Heltah Skeltah, has died according to the Associated Press. He was 43.

Price came to attention under the stage name Ruck alongside partner Rock (Jahmal Bush) in the New York City rap group Heltah Skeltah during the 1990s. They released their first album "Nocturnal" in 1996 and frequently made guest appearances on tracks by other notable east coast rappers, including members of the Wu-Tang Clan.

Price was well respected for his skills on the mic by other rappers. "RIP Sean Price. Mic God, lyrical Warrior and supreme Emcee," commented fellow rapper Killer Mike via Twitter.

The Brooklyn native died in his apartment on Saturday, August 8, 2015 according to a statement made by his record label, Duck Down Music. No cause of death was given.

An official mixtape, "Songs in the Key of Price" is scheduled for release later in August. Price is survived by his wife and three children.
