U.S. Army 1st Lt. Sean Robert Jacobs, 23, of Redding died Thursday in Afghanistan. Arrangements are pending at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Redding (243-1525).
My son just sent me a picture of his 6th grade pals which included Sean that I want to share with Sean's loved ones. This is the Sean I'll always remember (far right). Funny, bright, kind.

I think of you almost every day, I see you in the majestic beauty of the mountains, I hear you in the sound of the swift current at the river as I fish, and there are times when the clouds are so bright white just like your smile that it puts a smile on my face. As you continue cruising the mountains, counting the fish and smiling upon us through the magically white clouds just know you are missed so much - you will not be forgotten! You will forever be an American Hero and forever remembered...

My heart has such a giant hole in it and aches every day. You made the biggest sacrifice for us. And I love you to heaven and back. I have some awesome memories of you that I replay over and over. I loved every day that you stayed with me. You just brightened my day with your beautiful smile. My other favorite story with...

Lt Jacobs gave the greatest gift he had to give, his service to his country, the men he served with, his family and friends, and people like me, he never even knew me. To give your life selflessly is the ultimate act of love, and serves a higher calling than most of us will ever know. It truly is the calling of those we call Heroes. Lt Jacobs, I salute you sir with all my heart. Brian Langdoc, disabled Army...
