Not sure what to say?

I was one of those fortunate enough to have Mr. Allen as my choir director at both Pittman and Hueytown High School. He taught us much more than music. His zest for life and his search for excellence was an inspiration to so many of his students who were aspiring to graduate and follow our dreams. He gave of his time, energy and money both in and out of the classroom and taught us lessons we will never forget. He was always there when needed and was loved and respected by those whose...

Mr. Allen made my high school years. I am truly sorry for the loss.

I, too, was a classmate of Chick's at BHS. He will be remembered as a kind, caring and talented individual who had an uncanny ability to squeeze every ounce of talent from his students!

“Mr. Allen” - Teacher of music…and lessons in life. Fun and funny, yet passionate and stern. From Pittman through graduation from Hueytown High School, choir was one of the biggest parts of my life, and Mr. Allen made it all so memorable. More than just notes on a page, he taught us that music was about expressing yourself through words, with heart and soul. I will be forever grateful for the privilege of being one of his students.

Just knowing you are gone from this world...

Mr. Allen, You were our Stunt Night Advisor. To a lot of us, you were our teacher. We all shared so many wonderful times with you. Thanks for the memories. Rest in Peace. We Love You. Class of 1977

I will always be grateful for what I learned from Mr. Allen. It was much more than knowing how to read the little notes on a sheet or how to sing properly. From him I learned that you don't stop 'til you get it right and then you go over it one (or ten) more times. Through Swingers, Mr. Allen gave me the opportunity become a confident young woman instead of a shy little girl. He will be greatly missed but I am so honored to have known him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. May you...

HHS Choir, Swingers, "BRB", such great memories. He let us have fun yet made us get serious when we needed to be. Such a great teacher. I would love to sing in his choir again one day.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of Mr. Allen (and he will always be Mr. Allen to me). Even though I never had the honor of being in one of his choirs, I helt a deep respect for him. Rest in peace, Mr. Allen.

Chick, RIP, You were a great friend. You'll be greatly missed. Thanks for the good times and all the laughs!
