Johnson Funeral Home, P.C. - Manistee Obituary

Selma 'Sally' Lindeman, formerly of Filer City, passed away peacefully at age 90 on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the Sharp Hospice Lakeview Home in La Mesa, California.
Selma was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, on December 1, 1924, the daughter of Christian and Elizabeth (Bosner) Schaefer. She was a graduate of Sheboygan High School - Class of 1941. On April 13, 1946, she was united in marriage to Carl Gustav Lindeman at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on January 29, 1991.
She retired as the secretary for the Manistee Area School Board. In retirement, she lovingly devoted her life to care for her husband Carl until his death.
Selma was a lifelong Lutheran. While in California she was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in La Mesa, California. Her former church families included St. Peters Lutheran Church and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manistee.
Throughout her lifetime she enjoyed many hobbies and interests including cooking and baking, reading, sewing and quilting, cross stitch, knitting and crocheting, playing canasta, and, of course, Bible Study. She loved to spend time with family and friends. Her favorite places to visit were the homes of her children.
Selma was a lifelong inspiration in Christian life to all of her family. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis & Brenda Lindeman of Fallbrook, CA, and David & Christine Lindeman of Naperville, IL; son, Dale Lindeman of Boise, ID; daughter and son-in-law, Steven and Diane (Lindeman) Gardner of La Mesa, CA; grandchildren, Bret Lindeman of Rancho Bernardo, CA, Jessica (Lindeman) Nellis of Arlington Heights, IL, Andrea (Lindeman) Mulligan of Henderson, NV, and Matthew Gardner of La Mesa, CA; and great grandsons, Nicholas & Andrew Lindeman of Rancho Bernardo, CA.
In addition to her parents and husband, Selma was also preceded in death by son, Donald Lindeman; brother, Ray Schaefer; and sisters, Emma Thompson and Edna Dalhiemer.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial graveside service will be held later this summer at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
The family suggests that those wanting to remember Selma consider a gift in her memory to Sharp Hospice Care of San Diego, CA.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation of Manistee. [www.johnson-funeral-home.com]

Not sure what to say?

Aunt Sally was one of my favorite Great Aunts. Every time my Mom (Sally) and I came to Filer City we would stop in to visit and then make our way to a fish fry in Manistee. I loved her nature and how she could remember things from the past. She is now with Great Uncle Carl and my Grandparents Ernestine (Lindeman) and Raymond Rossell. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. She lived a great life and loved her family.

Our deepest condolences to you all. Sally was a great lady...wonderful seamstress, baker and friend. We have so many memories or her and times we spent together.
We would love to share in the graveside service this summer if possible. With our prayers and love. Mike & Connie Watson
