Madeline (Mat) Rowe Selma Madeline Rowe, 84, of Fairmont passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Fairmont General Hospital. She was born in Fairmont on February 20, 1925 a daughter of the late Wade and Lacy Vincent Hall. Madeline was preceded by her husband who passed away on August 2, 1986. She was a homemaker, a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Madeline was employed as a cook for 32 years with the Marion County Board of Education, for 21 years at the Whitehall School. She was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School Madeline was an active member of the White Hall Church of Christ. She enjoyed going to church, reading and studying the Bible. Among her many interest were gardening and canning, baking, quilting. She was an 11 year cancer survivor. Madeline especially loved her grandchildren and will be missed by her large, loving family. She is survived by her sons Michael Rowe and his wife Vivian of Fairmont, Thomas Rowe and his wife Mary Pat of Fairmont and John Rowe and his wife Sherry of Fairmont; her daughter Margaret “Peggy� Knight and her husband Ronald of Fairmont; her brother Robert “Bob� Hall and his wife JoAnn of Fairmont; twenty-two grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren and her special friend Brenda Hunt Brock. In addition to her parents and her husband, Madeline was preceded in death by her sisters Helen Yates, Freda Kirby and Dorothy Hall, who died in infancy. Friends and family may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Wednesday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and on Thursday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm and from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Visitation will also be held on Friday, July 17, 2009 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at the Whitehall Church of Christ. Services will be held at the church at 2:00pm with Evangelist Kevin Lough officiating. Interment services will immediately follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
