Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry to learn of Bing's death. He was a truly good and decent soul with unmatched integrity. I send my love to Bing and Leslie.

I first met Selwyn as a tenant in one of his commercial buildings in 1985. It was a lean time for me, as I had just started my business, and I can recall getting several months behind on my rent payments. In 1987, with the building being condemned to allow for the widening of US 26, my business was forced to move into one of Selwyn's nearby buildings, which he allowed, even though I was still behind on my rent payments. Eventually, I got my rents caught up, I am still in that building and...

I grew up next door to the Bingham family. "Bing," "Biff," and "Bang" were big brothers to me, and their mother was a second mother to me long after I grew up. I am saddened by the news of Bing's death. Please accept my most profound sympathy.

I'm very sorry to hear this. I first met Bing in 1968 when I was six. My first memory of him comes several years later on the day he mounted a backboard and hoop over his garage. Bing spent that afternoon teaching me how to dribble and complete a layup from both the left and right side. He was generous with his time and I know it was appreciated by all who lived nearby.

Selwyn sat across from me in grade school, I will remember him fondly----Anne Coleman , Arizona

Selwyn's generosity will outlive us all, through his impact on the community he built in so many ways. He and his company converted an empty warehouse into the Friendly House Community Center in 1993-94, donating his entire contractor profit. When the fund-raising slowed, Selwyn personally loaned the remaining balance, assuring the project's success. Selwyn remained a strong supporter of our Northwest Portland institution, which served the neighborhoods in which he grew up. We will miss...

Bing was my best friend in Portland for over 50 years. He was a great guy did a lot for the community and many organizations for all of his life and he will be sorely missed. Milt Lankton

A wonderful and talented man who will be
deeply missed.

I am saddened by this news of Selwyn's passing. We shared many joyful afternoons at the pitch table. He added so much to the day with his humor and smiling countenance . He will be greatly missed by many and long remembered by all who knew him. Barbara Beale
