Not sure what to say?

The members of East Pennsboro Fire Station #2 Midway gathered together to be prepared for any emergency...all sharing the emotions of sadness, disbelief, and anger as the events of this tragedy unfolded. As volunteer firefighters we all felt helpless as we listened to news broadcasts about our fellow firefighters and emergency personnel as they fought to save lives. Even today there is a place in my heart that holds sadness for the lost men and women and those who survived.

I am from Mauritius, a small island in the Indian Ocean. On that day, I was working in the national audiovisual company and the t.v was naturally on as we receive all news on satellite. Someone just called us to watch the tv and I saw the horror. USA is so far from us but the pain was there after all we are all humans - so I was not understanding that some are not - some have not the heart or God does not give a heart to everyone. Yesterday on the 5th anni- I watched a documentary - it was so...

I was in the 8th grade. We were in History. Our teacher was called into the hall by another teacher when she came back she was in tears, she calmly told what had happened and was very choked up. On my way to lunch that day i passed the teacher's lounge were I caught my first images of 9/11. I was in shock. We had a moment of silence that afternoon to think about all those hurt or killed and their families. That is a day I will never forget. Never Forget... 343

I was at my desk at work in mid-town Manhattan when I get a call from my brother asking me if I heard what just happened- a plane just went into the WTC. I remember saying out loud- A plane flew into the WTC to no one in particular. I turned the radio on to make sure what I just heard was true. You see, my company had offices in both Towers. I began making phone calls trying to find out about my co-workers. Everyone was scrambling trying to figure out what to do. I was fortunate that 2...

I remember September 11, 2001 so well. I had been recently layed off after my eight years of service and after running from interview to interview, I decided to give myself a brake, go home to Rhode Island and visit with my mom. My flight date was September 11, 2001 and my flight time was 11:15 A.M.USAir flight out of Ft. Lauderdale. A close friend was taking me to the airport. I was on my way out the door around 9 something when I received a phone call from my cousin Marlene in Rhode...

I was an active duty serviceman for the US Navy in Bangor, WA submarine base. I just returned to work off maternity leave. I was taking my 6 week old baby girl to day care when I saw the one tower burning on the news. I looked to my child care provider and remember asking "What crazy movie is that?" I remember her responding in horror, "Thats not a movie, it's real" that's all she could say. All I could do is cry. By the time I made it to work the second tower had been hit, everyone was...

On Sept. 11, 2001, I walked across the Key Bridge from Georgetown University toward my home in Alexandria, Virginia. Traffic was snarled from the Bridge to Route 50. The Metro Stations were shut down so a large number of people were on foot. I walked for three hours until my husband was finally able to meet me on Leesburg Pike in Falls Church. The number of people on foor, the rumble of helicopters and jets flying overhead, the piercing sirens of the ambulances - looked, felt , and sounded...

I was in 8th grade and I walked into our music room for class and there was a big screen TV in front of the classroom which had CNN on. As soon as I walked in the South tower collapsed. The school kept the events that were unfolding quite to us until then. I had no idea that the planes had hit the buildings. For the remainder of the day we watched the news. Some of the students went home because their parents didn't feel it was safe for them to be at school. That was the first time I had ever...

I was a bride of 10 days. I had woken up early to have breakfast with my new husband before he went to work. After he left, I was on an online bulletin board, and someone had posted about a plane hitting the first tower. I logged off and ran upstairs to turn on the television. It was then I saw the second plane hit the tower. Katie Couric's voice will forever be etched in my memory at that time. Her voice and the look of horror on her face.
