Not sure what to say?

Read with great sadness of the passing of Serena. Our friendship started in the early 1960s and continued long after she had moved to Oregon. We were happy to help alleviate her boredom after she left the world of Fleet Street and she was an early award-winning contributor to our publication. Her generosity and kindness to us and our family will be long remembered as well as her unquenchable enthusiasm for life.

We knew Serena and Earl in the early 2000s. A vivacious giver of dinner parties, Serena delighted her guests with her stories and sometimes outrageous opinions.

So sorry to hear of Serena's passing, she was a good friend. We met when she interviewed me for an article she was working on many years ago. I also accompanied her on several occasions for restaurant reviews. Truly a wonderful, funny and bright woman. Wish I had known she was in Oregon, I was under the impression she was in London.

I met Serena years ago when she worked for The Downtowner magazine. She was witty, full of energy, stories and cleverness. We rented her barn in Uzez, France in the early 90's. I will always remember her tutorial about manners and customs in France, as well as where to find the best second hand store in the village. She had an indelible personality. Serena was resourceful, friendly to all,and I am certain, dearly missed by all who knew her well. Her obituary is a tribute to an amazing woman.

This obituary captures Serena perfectly. I was honored to be a friend after meeting her at a writing conference in 2003. Her death leaves a huge loss, but she will be lovingly remembered by me, my family, and her many friends worldwide.
