RAPID CITY , South Dakota
RAPID CITY - On Jan. 18, 2008, Serenity Gabrielle Bogue, 13, lost her battle to a long time illness and has made her journey back to our Lord.
Serenity was born at Cherry Point, N.C., at the Marine Corps. Base Naval Hospital on November 21, 1994. She and her military parents were always on the move and lived on both the East and West Coasts until Serenity was 3 years old. Serenity and her mother moved back to South Dakota where she attended various schools in the area including Long Valley Elementary, Kadoka Elementary, Meadowbrook Elementary, and West Middle School.
Serenity's favorite things she enjoyed doing were singing along to her favorite music and creating her own songs about her relatives, nature, or anything that interested her. She was very fond of nature and animals, and enjoyed swimming and riding her bike whenever she had the chance. Playing with her cousins always brought a smile to her face as well as everyone around her.
At a very young age she was involved in the Catholic Church, and her knowledge of prayer showed to everyone that knew her. Her curiosity led to her taking things apart and putting them back together. She was also very creative and often drew and colored pictures, with her favorite colors being pink and purple.
Survivors include her mother, Iris Bogue-Yellow Hawk; her stepfather, Thomas Yellow Hawk, Jr.; her father Theron Bogue; her brother, Luke Bush; her two half-brothers, Jacob and Cody Bogue; her maternal grandparents, Deacon Gerald Bush, Sr. and Sandra Bush; her aunts and uncles, Terrolyn Teague, Chris and Michele Long Soldier, Stephanie Vedilago, Kristal Bush, Gerald and Julie Bush, Sharyl Bush, and Bradley Bush; cousins, Darren, Michael, and Patrick Teague, Eric Blue Bird, Jude Bush, Chris and Sandria Long Soldier, Thomas and Amber Vedilago, Tawney Bush, Austin, Tristian, and Shaelyn Bush, Gerald and Jycole Bush, David Bush, and Kai Eisenbraun.
Wake Services will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wed., Jan. 23; at Serenity Springs Funeral Chapel with a luncheon at 4 p.m. and a Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thurs., Jan. 24, at Serenity Springs Funeral Chapel, with Father Rick Abert, S.J. and Deacon Gerald Bush, Sr. officiating. Dear Iris,
Angie and I are just heartbroken over the loss of your precious daughter, Serenity. God is holding her hand now, and she is free. Remember: Time doesn't take away the pain, it just helps it to hurt less often. Give yourself plenty of time. Keep your memories close, and Serenity will never be far away. Serenity is now watching over you just like you watched over her. Love like this is so special, and you both were so blessed to have each other.
God Bless you and your...

My heart goes out to Serenity's family. Some of my family got to meet Serenity in Denver when my niece Brynlee was being cared for there. We also lost Bryn, so we understand your pain. Know that Serenity has a completely healed new body now, and is without pain & suffering. May God's love comfort you, and may the many memories of Serenity keep her alive in your hearts forever.

Iris, Aunt Sandra, Uncle Gerald, Luke and others,
Sorry for not able to be with you. But I am there in prayers and remember that God has welcomed Serenity to her new place where she could sing him songs and color for him.
I can see why Iris named her daughter with a beautiful name like Serenity. She had that uplifting and holiness that made everyone smile. Serenity will be missed by all. On behalf of the Conroy family, we extend our condolences and we will be here for...
