Seth Stuart Parent, born March 19, 1975, son of Marcia and Calvin Parent of Barton, Vermont and Fort Myers, Florida, suddenly departed this life on Thursday evening, August 4, 2016, while on vacation with his parents in Vermont.  Seth was a lifelong resident of Cornwall and New Windsor, New York.   Seth is survived by his parents, a sister Ashley Grinnell (John) and his beloved twin niece and nephew, Nash and Zeke.   Seth is also survived by his paternal grandmother Elizabeth Parent and his beloved longtime companion Marissa Franko of Highland Mills, New York.  He leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  Seth was a 1994 graduate of Cornwall Central High School and attended a year of college at NYIT, Long Island.  During his high school years he was the recipient of many awards of achievement including his Guidepost Magazine winning essay entitled “When you Walk Through the Fire”; he was a Boys' State representative, and also received the Boy Scout Order of the Arrow for courage and perseverance.  He was employed for many years at Cornwall Hospital as a security officer where he was honored as Employee of the Month.  He was a 24-year member of Storm King Engine Co. Seth was an avid lifelong Red Sox fan. He never forgot an anniversary or birthday.  He gave giant bear hugs to those he loved.  From the moment of his birth, Seth struggled valiantly to overcome physical and emotional challenges and did so with courage and great determination.  His indomitable spirit was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him.  Seth requested his organs be used to help others  live and encouraged everyone to follow suit.  A Memorial Celebration of Seth's life  will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the Barton United Church with the Rev. Evelyn Coupe officiating.  Should friends desire, contributions in his memory may be made to the Storm King Engine Co. Not sure what to say?

Seth's enthusiam for the lake really helps me remember how I love the place too.
Seth seemed to have a full life in the years he had to enjoy it. In this case, it's about quality.

To My Dear Seth,
I can't believe it's been 5 years since you've left me to go to Heaven. How time flies! You're at peace in your forever home in the loving arms of Jesus.
I'll always remember you!

Love you and miss you,
Marissa

So sad to hear of Seth's passing, which brought back a flood of memories of my brief time spent with him and his wonderful family, who raised a strong man that gave back to his community. He will be forever in my heart. May the memories of him bring comfort now and in the difficult days ahead.

Mr. & Mrs Calvin,
Mr Calvin taught my children (now grown with their own) music when they were in Newburgh schools & we met many times at school programs. Also, you were a guest musician at VGUMC. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. No parent should have to bury their child. Having experience it myself, my heart goes out to you. Sincerest condolences on the loss of your child so early before it should have been his time.

Marcia and Cal,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. May you find comfort and peace. The Krieger family

May God bless all who loved Seth in this life, especially his mom and dad, and may we all live so that we may join him in Paradise !

While Seth was working at Cornwall hospital,he would sometimes stop on his way to work have a uniform repair of some kind, and we always battled my Yankees vs. his Red sox, he even taunted me once wearing his Red sox shirt in the store, as i informed him, that wasn't allowed and he would pay double for doing so. Always a good time. Rest in peace Seth. Condolences to his family, From Alfi's Uniforms.

Cal, Marcia and family,

We are so sad to hear of your loss of Seth. He was so wonderful, loving and always shared a smile. Our prayers are with you. And we rejoice that Seth is home with our Lord.
