Sonny and Beth, I just heard from one of my Wilson cousins in Florida that Seymore had died. I am so sorry. I talked to him about two months ago and he was not feeling well that day. He was a wonderful man with so many funny stories to tell. I just wish he had put them all in a book. He told me many funny stories about himself and my mother, Eunice, when they were small children. How fondly I remember your father & mother & both your grandparents as well. Haven't seen any of you since high school, but I cherish the times we played together. Know both of your parents are waiting for you both in Heaven! I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

No doubt in my mind that Seymour West was one of the finest men to ever live in Jacksonville. My first rememberance of Seymour was in the late 1960's. I was a student, a lovely student, yet Seymour treated me with the same dignity as he would have treated Dr. Cole. That was a perfect illustration of Seymour. He treated every person he met as if they were the college a president. I used Seymour as one of my role models throughout my professional life. Yes, heaven just got a wonderful man.
