Shaila welcomed and mentored me as a young faculty member at Fort Lewis. I taught in the innovative ILP for first-year students that she and Doreen created--a model of interdisciplinary learning that the students thrived in and loved. I'll mostly remember Shaila's sparkling personality and generosity of spirit, and tennis. I'm lucky to have known her. My condolences to her family and friends.

Sheila was a special friend. I had her as a professor. When I graduated, she was still mentoring me. I had great times with her, and Doreen. I still stand in awe of her many talents. May she rest in peace.

Shaila was a generous role model who encouraged me tirelessly when I was a twenty-something adjunct professor teaching in the English Department at Fort Lewis College. Her patience, humility and kindness made a life-long impression on me. RIP dear Shaila. Condolences to her family and friends. Karen Brucoli Anesi
