Shane was my son's Team Leader in Afghanistan. My son was supposed to be with Shane on that patrol, but at the last minute, Shane told my son to stay back and get some sleep since he had been up all night on fire watch. That order probably saved my son's life, for which I am eternally grateful. Shane will always be a hero in my book.
