Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Roanoke Obituary

Shaquille Hakim Sean Bonds was born on July 4, 1995 in Roanoke, VA to Sean Bonds and Elisha Jones. Shaquille was educated in the Salem, VA school system, graduating from Glenvar High School in 2013. He also graduated from Bethune-Cookman University, majoring in Business Management.

Shaquille was an excellent student-athlete, playing football, basketball, and running track. He set records for football at Glenvar, playing in the SW Virginia All-Star football game in 2013. While he was an excellent football player, he was just as skilled in basketball, being a great defender and ball handler.

In his spare time, he loved playing video games, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with family and friends. Shaquille had a great personality, bringing life to whatever gathering he was a part of.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jimmy Lee Mays and Charlene Jones, his paternal grandmother, Deborah Bonds, and maternal aunt Rickshell Jones.

He is survived by his parents, Sean (Mica) Bonds and Elisha Jones of Disputanta, VA, and his paternal grandfather, Gordon Bonds; six aunts, Nikki Bonds, Sandra (Bobby) Hunt, Nikki Jones (Mike), Danielle Bonds, Angelique Jones, and Chardae Lewis; cousins Khalil Malik, Shawnna, Shayla, Joshua, Stacy, Nicholas, Mike, Mikeal, and Shaniqua. Along with a host of other cousins, family members, and friends from Virginia to Florida.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 2pm at Serenity Funeral Home.
