Sharon K. Basovsky, age 83, passed away on November 11th after a long
struggle with Alzheimer’s. Sharon was born in Minneapolis, the daughter
of Mary Jane and Clarence Thor. Sharon met her husband Rudolph
(Rudy) Basovsky in Las Vegas and was married in Minneapolis July 29,
1967. Sharon will be missed by her son, Justin and his wife Mary and their
children Jack and Cody, and their other son Rory, his wife Kristin, and their
children Mary Jane and Padraic.
Sharon had a vibrant and fulfilling life. She graduated from Roosevelt High
School in 1959 in Minneapolis, MN. Sharon had a love for travel. She and
Rudy took dozens of cruises in Europe and the Caribbean. They also
traveled all over the United States. Sharon was deeply involved in her kids'
activities, driving to BMX races, golf lessons, and various other sports and
hobbies. She was an exceptional baker, making cakes for friends and
family for all kinds of events. Sharon's love of baked goods created an
unwritten rule to visit the local bakery whenever we were traveling. During
the winter holidays, Sharon would schedule a cookie exchange party for
several dozen friends and family.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Libertyville Manor
for their compassionate, tender care for Sharon.
Visitation is scheduled for Saturday November 23rd, 2024 at 10am, Service to follow at 11am at
Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 910 14th Street, North Chicago, IL
60065. Burial will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL.
