KEEFER, Sharon Kathleen Of Grand Blanc, age 72, died Saturday, May 7, 2016 at University Hospitals in Ann Arbor. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the Captains Club at Woodfield, with Scott Southerland officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the following charities, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Genesee County Humane Society. Sharon was born in Hollywood, CA on August 17, 1943, daughter of the late Burrell and Betty Rushing and was a resident of Hollywood, Traverse City, Flint, Swartz Creek and Grand Blanc. On August 4, 1962 she married Gene Keefer in Flint. She was a long time member of Hopewell Baptist Church, where she headed the Decorating Committee and worked in the nursery. She loved birds, gardening, butterflies and attending her grandchildren's sporting activities. Surviving are husband, Gene Keefer; daughter, Tonya (Jerry) Adams; grandson, Aharon Adams; son, Brian Keefer; granddaughter, Haley Keefer; sister, LaVonne (Ernie) Agruda; nieces, Nicole Agruda, Lindsey O'Malley and Alicia Agruda; nephew, Ryan Agruda; great-nieces, Harper O'Malley and Avery O'Malley; niece, Tracy Rushing and fiance' John Rooker; Great-nephews, Gavin Rooker and Grey Rooker; cousin, Vicki VanFleet; best friends of 52 years, Bob and Gloria and family; Gidget Keefer, dear friend and neighbor, Avis Bowen; her grand dogs. Special thank you to Dr. Bixby and his staff at U of M Bone Marrow Transplant & Leukemia Center. Also 8 East nurses and staff at U of M Hospitals.
