Shawn...our paths crossed so many times throughout high school and college. You have left an emptiness behind for all of us, but we are filled with gratitude and love because you touched our lives. You will never be forgotten.

The last thing I ever thought I would have to write when I was 35 years old was a message to my second family about the loss of my oldest friend and their beloved son and brother. I never thought that I would have to tell Nicole and Nicolas that I am here for them if they need anything, anything at all! We all know life isn't fair and that we have to do things we don't want to do, but this is something none of us should have to do. Shawny, I miss you and I will love you forever.

I met Shawn at Solon High School in 1991. I fouled him, hard, in an intramural basketball game, and he would have been totally justified in hitting back. I consider it a testament to his character that instead of doing so, he accepted my apology and we became friends. The world could use more people like him. My heart goes out to his family at this difficult time.
