It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shawn Layle Meyer, age 54, on November 27, 2024. Shawn received her wings at Ava’s House, surrounded by her loving family after a valiant and dignified fight against pancreatic cancer. Her spirit, courage, and unwavering strength throughout her battle was an inspiration to all who met and knew her.
Shawn Layle Meyer was born June 29, 1970. She was the daughter of James and Luane Sour. She received her GED from Lincoln High School in the 1990s. Shawn’s family lived in several states during her younger years until settling down in Sioux Falls, SD. Shawn worked at Star Mark for 11 years until she met Terry, and they moved to Ohio in 2001. They married on May 12, 2003. Shawn worked part-time at Taco Bell for the last 12 years, but her full-time job was at Walmart since August 21, 2005 to present day.
Her spirit is carried on through her husband Terry Meyer, sons Mike and Dallas Sour, sons-in-law: Alex Meyer, Justin Meyer, and Brandon Meyer; daughters-in-law Heather Meyer and Ashley Meyer; sisters: Sandi (John) and Staci (Joseph); brothers: Scott (Brenda), Stephen, Shane, Seth, bother-in-law, Jason Meyer Sr. (Steven); and 7 Grandkids: Sydney, Braiden, Kaiden, Kirra, Kiya, Dax and Hayden; and one Great Grandchild due January 5, 2025.
She is preceded in death by her father James Sour, mother-in-law Bonnie Meyer, sister-in-law Ronda Huizenga, and father-in-law John Fitch.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 6 PM at Heritage Funeral Home.
