Proctor Funeral Home - Camden Obituary

Shay Lynn Arrington Farris, 69, of Prescott, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017. She was born January 9, 1948 in Waldo and grew up in Stephens. She graduated from SAU and became an art teacher and spent most of her years teaching at Prescott. She loved kids and bringing a whole new world into their life, that they otherwise would have never known.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Debbie; brothers, Ricky and Tommy. Shay is survived by her husband, Doug Farris; daughters, Ricci Farris Hunter and Blakely Farris Nolte and son-in-law, Todd; and grandchildren, Reese, Beckett and Lola.

Her passions were reading, flower gardening, her kids and grandkids. She helped out at the Prescott Library as much as she could and became involved with Prescott Master Gardners. Not to mention, she tried to put plants on every square inch of our 2½ acres. Her way of justifying this was to tell me the more she planted the less I had to mow.

Through all her health struggles she would always rather joke around with doctors and nurses than be serious and sad.

No services will held at this time. However if you wish to visit with the family, you can come by the house at 605 Nevada 249, Prescott, AR to visit and see her wonderful gardens from 1:00-5:00 PM on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to National Endowment for the Arts or Prescott Public Library.

Offering My Condolences
I Remember Shay from our school days at
Stephens High.

Shay was a very talented artist. I haven't seen Shay in a very long time but always loved to be around her when she visited Mom's shop in Stephens. I was always in awe of her quick wit and humor. My thoughts and prayers are with all of her friends and family.

Doug and Family may God bless you all in this time of sorrow.

I had the honor to work with Shay Farris decades ago when I taught at Prescott. Few people can match her achievements when it came to art education. What she was able to do with middle school children was incredible. She put on plays that could rival those on broadway.

I was so sad to hear that Shay had passed. I have many memories of her at my mom's store in Stephens. May she rest in peace. Prayers for all that loved her.

I am so sorry for the loss of Shay. As a classmate I will always remember her special love of art and horses. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Doug, my thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of great sorrow. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. God Bless

Doug,
I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Doug, Please accept my deepest sympathy. You will always be one of the good guys at Lockheed. My thoughts and prayers will be with you.
