Read MoreSheila was an inspiring mentor, valued teaching colleague, and cherished friend. When I began teaching at Tigard HS in 1981, she was my department chair. Her support and guidance were both reassuring and inspiring. As I grew to know her, she also became my friend. I will always cherish her memory and the impact she had on my life.

I took French at Tigard High School all 4 years (1968-1972) from Mrs. Dougherty. I loved the class! She taught us well. I wrote a story in French and presented it as a puppet show. She asked me to come and present in her other classes. For a culmination activity our senior year, she and Mr. Doughtery hosted us at a French restaurant for dinner. The menu was in French and we could read it!! It was a wonderful evening. She was a wonderful teacher...
