Andrews Mortuary - Hampstead Chapel Obituary

On September 12, 2023, Sheila Marie Flynn, 49 of Wilmington, NC went to her heavenly home.  Sheila was loved by her family, friends and co-workers.

During her lifetime, she knew physical and emotional pain and much loss, yet, she loved much.

She obtained her Master’s Degree in Counseling and she loved her job as a Licensed Professional Counselor.  She gave of herself to others through her gift of counseling and compassion to anyone in need.  She was always available to bring comfort, hope and guidance to all people she encountered.  Her clients knew she genuinely cared for them.  When book knowledge failed and she did not know the answer within herself, there were “God moments” when suddenly there was the answer to change one’s life for the better.  To witness a client’s relief from pain brought great joy to her.

She enjoyed motorcycle riding.  After experiencing a motorcycle accident, she chose to give up her two wheel bike for a “trike” out of love and respect for her mom and dad who she loved very much. She also enjoyed dogs.  There was Dutchess, Tan Tan and Molly.  Harley, a beagle was her last dog, but due to apartment living, she chose to give Harley to a new family that would be able to meet Harley’s needs to run free and follow his little beagle nose.  She loved much!

About three years ago, Sheila had her own “God moment” where she experienced God’s love in her heart making her feel like a new person inside and no longer a victim.  Then she knew how much God loved her and now she is experiencing the very presence of love Himself - God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Sheila is preceded in death by Edmund Flynn, father, Allen and Dorothy Blanton, maternal grandparents, Florence Padrick Flynn Anderson Aycock, paternal grandmother.

Sheila is survived by her mother, Teresa Flynn, sister, Sonya Flynn Rose Dunn (Myke) of Jacksonville,  nephews, Allen Rose (Megan) of Mount Olive,, Michael Dunn (Amanda) and Dustin Dunn of Jacksonville, great nieces and nephews Carsyn Rose, Samuel Dunn, Jessa Rose, Greyson Dunn, Whitley Rose, along with loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

A funeral service will be held 2:30 pm Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Andrew’s Hampstead Chapel.  Entombment will follow in Sea Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.  The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 pm.
