Not sure what to say?

I've known Shelby for 16 years and can't believe I won't get to see his smiling face again. He was a great guy who was always so thoughtful and would ask everyone how they were doing. When you asked Shelby how he was doing he always had something positive to say. He loved life and loved his family and I think he was very fulfilled. Yes Shelby you are missed but I'm happy to have known you.

Shelby is missed everyday. He was such a wonderful, funny, caring, generous friend and coworker to me and everyone he worked with for many years. He made us all smile and laugh and he was such a genuine person with so much care and support for others in any situation. When I think of Shelby I remember a man who loved his family and who loved children and who embraced all different types of people in many different ways. He touched everyone's lives. I am grateful to have worked with him...

I was shocked and saddened to hear that Shelby passed on. I made friends with Shelby in 2001 while working for the state, where training consisted of " baptism by fire". Well Shelby changed all that for me. He really took me under his wing and taught me the tools of the trade in a kind, respectful and professional manner. He was a true leader and gentleman always! He was a genuine person, always polite no matter if you were management or a part time temp worker. He was a straight up guy,...

my grandpa was a great guy who made me laugh. he always had something interesting to tell me. its too bad he had to pass

I first met Shelby via phone when I worked in claims in the Hillsboro office and then met him in person when I was on a job rotation (way over my head) in the Beaverton Office. Being overwelmed and scared to let anyone know, I wasn't quite sure how to cope. Shelby was one of the wonderful people that somehow came to my rescue without being asked. One of the funniest looks I got from a client was when he was yelling at me about holding up his benefits and Shelby peeked around the corner and...

The world is a smaller place without Shel. He was always watching out for the other guy. A great peacemaker and knew how to be a friend. I met Shel at the Beaverton Office where he and Jerry trained me in UI. Shelby was so patience and thoughtful. He loved his family and we were always talking about our grandbabies. He will truly be missed.

I will miss your routine of a morning walk around our unit, but remember your great smile as you said hello.

I had the pleasure of working with Shelby in the Beaverton Office and the UI Center. We talked often about any subject under the sun. The conversation usually ended in us finding something to chuckle about. We'll miss that chuckle and presence, but even in his absence his memory can still make us smile. Miss you friend.

Shelby was a great friend and a wonderful person. I am honored to have known him. My deepest sympathy to his family. I will miss him the rest of my life.
