Pavel is my inspiration for pursuing a career in education. He made every student feel seen and loved as he walked through the halls and knew every students name in some cases before you even met him. He was diligent and a student first Principal and someone that was always a pleasure to see. A wonderful colleague and dear husband of my friend and associate, Paula. I’ll always remember the beautiful dinner at their home, when my friend and I were showered with such love and embraced as family, as we spoke of our children and travel adventures. Dr. Pavel, what a great man and ultimate Leader. He will be missed by many.

I have known and Sheldon "Shelly" Pavel for forty years or more. I am a Central High School Alumni and Served on the Alumni Board of Directors and on the committee that chose Sheldon as our New President. He was the longest serving and the best President that we have ever had. Dr. Sheldon Pavel was a legend in the School District of Philadelphia. He will always be remembered for the excellent leadership he provided to Central High School. Dr. Pavel shared his wisdom and education experience with students, families, colleagues and the community. My deepest condolences to the family. May all these special memories help to comfort you at this difficult time. You are in my prayers.
