Not sure what to say?

Sheldon Traeger was the most influential and resspected physician I have ever worked under. His teachings were the foundation of my ability to care for the hospitalized patient. My patients are fortunate that I was taught by this special man. He will be dearly missed. His teachings will live on forever.
David Call, DO

Dear Barb,
Bob and I were shocked and saddened to hear of Sheldon's passing. We have fond memories of going through residency together and working with him. It is a great loss to the medical community and an even greater one for you. He is in my prayers.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Dr. Traeger's untimely death. My first rotation at Akron City Hospital in 1989 was in the ICU with Dr. Traeger. The last time I saw him was in 2001 when I spoke in Akron. Even then, ten years after leaving Akron, one of my great hopes was that my professional accomplishments would live up to his standards. Throughout my career, Dr. Traeger has been a source of inspiration. He was a tremendous physician and teacher as well as the subject of numerous...

Dr. Traeger has been a positive and influential physician and teacher in my years at Summa (Akron City). In fact, the intensivist group at Summa helped direct me in pursuing my own career in critical care medicine. He was a very patient teacher - strict at times and very forgiving at others. I have been very honored in working with him and I will hopefully carry on the traditions that he has passed on to all of us in giving superior medical care, especially critical care, to our patients. My...

My deepest sympathy to all of the family and friends of Sheldon. This man was the single most overpowering influences of my career. Every aspect of my daily practice has been patterned by the teaching of this most brilliant man that critical care medicine has ever or will ever experience. I am in total and absolute shock as I only talked to him weeks ago reguarding a difficult case. A great void in my life has been created but at the same time I know his influence on me and everyone he ever...

Dear Barb, I remember Dr. Traeger when D'Amico and I worked Rehab and you and Sheldon made social rounds. I cannot begin to tell you how sorry I am for your loss and the loss of a great man in the medical community. I can only hope that there will be physicians rise to his intelligence/caring and abilities in the very near future. (This is no slam to those who are already attempting to fill his shoes and do their own work.) Your son and my son are now friends/co-workers. What a small world. I...

My prayers and condolences to the Traeger family and friends. I have had the privilage and honor of working with doctor Traeger for many years at Summa Health System. On many occasions I found myself standing at a bedside questioning a patient's chance for survival, then Dr Traeger would enter the room and I would know that everything would be alright. His commitment to patient care was second to none. He was a brilliant physician who saved countless lives. He will greatly missed.

"All interest in disease and death, is merely another expression of interest in life, as is proven by the humanistic faculty of medicine, that addresses life and it's ails always so politely in Latin, and which deals with a most pressing concern, which in all sympathy, I shall name by it's name, the human being, the delicate child, MAN"

Sheldon was a member of that humanistic faculty, and I shall always be grateful to him, for saving the lives of many of my patients, and...
