Shelly Darling Obituary
She is survived by her husband, Chris; her father, Stephen Reese Kincaid (Leslie Owen) and her mother, Shirley Ragland Kincaid; her brother, Reese Jordan Kincaid II (Megan) and their children, Hunt, Hayes, and Anna Clark; grandmothers, Gwendolyn Whatley Kincaid and Kathryn Werner Ragland, all of Birmingham; her grandmother-in-law, Dr. Elizabeth Cleino of Tuscaloosa; in-laws Edward C. Daring Jr. of Duncan, Okla., Jeanne C. Perkins (Jerry) of Naples, Fla., Edward Scott Darling (McKaye), Aniston, Bennett, and Campbell of Alexandria, Va., Edward Grant Darling of Madison, Miss., Holly VanVuuren (Deon) and Chloe of Naples, Fla., Valerie Perkins, Sofia and Lidia of Florence, Italy and Glynn Cooper of Stillwater, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Reese Jordan Kincaid and James Denver Ragland of Birmingham; grandfather-in-law, Edward Henry Cleino and Bill Cleino; and beloved dogs, Sam and Rollie.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by many close relatives, innumerable friends, and her dogs Max and Annie.
Shelly was raised in Vestavia Hills, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of Alabama with a Bachelor's degree in both Communications and Marketing. While in college, she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
Shelly and Chris were married on August 19, 2006 in Birmingham and resided in Washington D.C. where she obtained her law degree from George Washington University. She was employed by The University of Alabama as a Clinic Staff Attorney and was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church.
Shelly will be remembered for her quick wit, creative spirit, and tender, loving heart for all of God's creatures.

Funeral services will be held today, April 20, 2017 at 1 p.m., at Christ Episcopal Church located at 605 Lurleen B Wallace Blvd N, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.
In lieu of flowers, please direct gifts to any of Shelly's favorite organizations including Crossing Points, Adopt a Golden of Birmingham, or the Discretionary Fund of Christ Episcopal Church.

I did not know Shelly, personally. However, I knew Shelly's parents, Shirley and Steve. My son, John, was very good friends, with Shelly's brother, Reese. John and Reese grew up together; played Baseball together, etc.
One weekend, Reese went with John, to our Cabin on Lake Martin. I cannot remember the entire story, but both John and Reese, were giving the employees at Taco Bell a hard time ! They were both acting all
"Goofy". I remember John's dad, Jack, and I kept telling them, "Leave those people alone ! " It was all in their Fun, and we were all laughing !
Shelly was a pretty little girl, and she grew to be a Beautiful woman.
I am thinking of all of you, as you are remembering the anniversary of Shelly's Death.

Shirley and family my heart is so sad for you. I wish I didn't know what you are goin through but I know and know how unbearable the pain is. I know she was a beautiful person and her life is a testament to her parents and family. So very sorry for your loss. I heard about this from a close friend that (like me) first got to know some of your family at FUMC, Birmingham. I pulled up the story... ouch.
I did not have to ask which of the ladies was Kathryn's grand-daughter, as Shelly looked enough like her aunt that she could have been HER daughter.
There is nothing an extra-extended friend of the family like me could possibly say to help to ease your pain... but know that there are countless others out here that may have never even met Shelly, but know and love members of your family. I feel it is safe and prudent to say that much love is being sent your way, as well as many prayers.
I'll be praying for Strength, Courage and Guidance for the whole family and also for those whom have lost a dear friend... and that Light Perpetual shine upon Shelly.
I will also request you all be added to the Prayers of the People at St. Andrew's Episcopal, Birmingham, my home parish.

My Heart is sad and broken. Shelly was one of the most caring and compassionate Lady that I ever met.I knew Her for about a year. We met while my wife was on Hospice at home.She helped me more than anyone could with all the legal help,and she never stopped,she would bring food and called often to see if I needed anything.I'm a Minister of 47 yrs. The Bible says that Jesus is our Advocate and intercessor in Heaven. Well Shelly was my intercessor on earth.She was like a Daughter,so Precious,kind and Loving.I will always remember her.Rest Dear Shelly in the arms of God.
