Sherman Lee Linn, former longtime Nowata resident, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024, in Broken Arrow. He was born March 12, 1939, in Chelsea, Oklahoma to General “Doc” and Mary (Bowman) Linn. On December 24, 1957, he married the love of his life, Margueritte Sue Patterson in Nowata.
Sherman was a 1958 graduate of Nowata High School. After graduation, he attended Northwestern Oklahoma A and M College on a football scholarship and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and mathematics. After college, he worked for IBM until his retirement.
Sherman was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend that will be missed by all who knew him.
Sherman is survived by his children, Scott Linn and wife, Marcia, and their sons, Jeff and Shane of Tulsa, Staci Neasby of Eufaula, Autumn Linn, Lexie Linn, and Meighan Linn; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren; twin sister, Shirley Nowlin and younger sister, Sue Ward.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margueritte; sister, Mary Seaver; and son-in-law, Steven Neasby.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 10:00-1:00 P.M. in the Benjamin Funeral Service chapel. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. in the Nowata memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Mike Goolsbay officiating.
