Sherman joined my dad at an Ashland river terminal on the Mississippi in Hartford. He once stepped off a barge at night and was swept under it to the other side! He farmed part-time, about 1000 acres mostly rented from firms like Olin. Work for him paid a good bit of my college costs. He was a fun guy with good business sense who worked hard. Sherman & Joyce had the best Christmas Eve parties out on their farm. I'll miss him.
