Grier Funeral Service, Inc. - Charlotte Obituary

Sherrie Jeana Kelly-Jones, 47 of Charlotte, was suddenly ushered into eternal rest and peace on Friday, September 25, 2020.

Sherrie was born on May 3, 1973, in Columbus, Ohio, to Paul and Phyllis Kelly.  She was the youngest of their three children.

Sherrie received her formal education in Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Maryland School Systems.  While growing up, Sherrie enjoyed roller skating and horseback riding with her older siblings.  Sherrie participated in the drama department and music ministry while working with the youth program at Columbia Worship Center COGIC in Columbia, Maryland.  During high school, Sherrie played basketball, ran track, and graduated with honors as the Student Body President of Mt. Hebron High School.

During her young adulthood Sherrie modeled for John Casa Blanca in Allentown, PA where she began to form her love for fashion.  She went on to study Fashion Merchandising and Marketing at Johnson and Whales University.  After graduating college, Sherrie continued her modeling while working on her craft in hopes to one day own her own fashion boutique.  She was devoted to spreading compassion and kindness to all those she dearly loved, especially towards her nieces and nephews.  Sherrie dressed the part, she looked the part, she lived the part.

Sherrie was a great Woman of God.  She walked by faith and taught her children to do the same.  She was an active member of her church and the Armor Bearer to her First Lady.

Sherrie was working as a Manager at Nordstrom when she met the love of her life, Quincy Jones.  In the years to follow a true love blossomed and after they married in 2004, four children were born.  Being the amazing husband and father he is, Quincy encouraged Sherrie to pursue her dreams and become the ultimate stay at home mother.  Sherrie was able to care for her children and raise them as she always wanted to, being fully involved in everything they do.  Sherrie was an active school mom, the dance mom, and the football mom, the basketball mom, a mother unparalleled.

She made sure that her children participated in community activities.  Her Facebook post ensured that we were all keeping up with the Joneses.  She never missed a practice, a meeting, a game or a performance and embraced each of these as an opportunity to celebrate her family successes.  And, just in case you wanted to surprise her with something special, she would occasionally let you know what is new in the Rae Dunn Collection.

Nothing in her life made Sherrie smile more than her family and her BEST friend, Quincy.

Sherrie leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 16 years, Quincy; 5 children, Quincy Jr., Chase, Chandler, Jeana and Cayden Jones; her parents, Paul and Phyllis Kelly; her parents-in-law, Willie and Leanna Jones; a sister, Debra (Dwight) Thomas; brother, Darrell Kelly; her special cousin, Sheila (William) Sawyer; brother-in-law, Eric (Angela) Jones; sister-in-law, Annette Jones; 5 nephews, Phillip Jr., Eric Jr., Paul, Devon and Randolph; 8 nieces, Leslie, Niajwa, Erica, Chanell, Nandi, Kayla, Ameera and Samayah; 7 great nephews; 1 great niece and a host of cousins, adopted children, friends, church family and her Rae Dunn crew.

My heart is heavy for the family, I know the love you all had for her and especially the love she had for you all.One thing I know for sure, is that she is now with the angels watching over each of you. Sherrie,

You were the first person to greet me in our neighborhood 7 years ago. You and Quincy were so friendly. Over the years we watched our kids play together, had many many conversations, a lot of which had me laughing my face off because you were so funny! You were such an admirable mother, would do anything and everything for your children. The proudest mom at basketball, you could hear your voice across that court cheering on not just your own kids but all our kids! I will...

Such a beautiful angel, May God bless the family in this time of sorrow. I love you all
