R.E. Rogers Funeral Home - Belfry Obituary

Sherwood David "Woody" Meddings, 67, left this earthly world to enter Heaven's gates on November 29, 2025.  Though we may grieve our temporary earthly separation, we rejoice that he is safely in the arms of our glorious Savior.  We know that he heard, "Well done, good and faithful servant!...Come and share your master's happiness!" (Matthew 25:21).
Woody was born February 23, 1958, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late John and Margie Finley Meddings.  He was also preceded in death by one son, James David Meddings, and siblings, Leonard Meddings, Lawrence Meddings, James Meddings, Eugene Meddings and Susie Pertee.
Woody was a member of the OPL Worship Center of Red Jacket, WV.  He retired from the railroad and from EMS services after serving in many capacities in southern West Virginia for more than 30 years.  Woody had a servants heart.  He was driven to help others and did so.
Those left to carry on his legacy of love, is his wife of 31 years, Kim Meddings of Canada, KY; his three sons, John (Tonya) Meddings of Delbarton, WV, Josh (Tiara) Ferrell of Williamson, WV, and Jordan (Geran) Meddings of Knoxville, TN; a daughter, Dedra Linville of Peebles, Ohio; siblings, Rick (Pam) Meddings of Crum, WV, Glen John (Pat) Meddings of Kenova, WV, Barb Williamson of Crum, WV, Missy Runyon of Red Jacket, WV, Mike Gallimore of Belfry, KY, Debbie (Jay) Justice of Fort Gay, WV, and Heather (Ben) Case of Bristol, TN; mother-in-law, Betty Gallimore; eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, his OPL Church family, his Fresenius family, and his EMS brothers and sisters.
The special loves and joys of his life, Justice and Journey and everyone that has talked to Woody in the past seven years knows that Papaw's world revolved around these two.  They brightened each day and brought him more happiness than words can describe.
A celebration of all the joy Woody has given us all will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, at 3 PM at the OPL Worship Center.  Visitation will be held from 2 PM till the services start at 3 PM.  He was a man of faith, laughter, and joy .  He would want us to remember him in this way.  R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, KY, is serving the Meddings family.  Online condolences at www.rerogersfh.com.
