Love of Christ the Lord and her close-knit family were central in the life of Shirlee Hogenson, who departed at home in Burlington, Washington, on Sunday, February 10th, 2013.

Shirlee was loved by many, reflecting the personal warmth and selflessness they always felt when in her presence.

Shirlee was born in Tacoma, Washington on April 3rd, 1923. She graduated as Salutatorian of her class at Centralia High School. She went on to Centralia Junior College, the University of Washington Seattle, and New York University at Stonybrook, Long Island, New York.

In 1947 at a Pi Phi Sorority/Sigma Chi Fraternity exchange, Shirlee met Galen Hogenson.

Shortly after, on October 4th, 1947, Shirlee and Galen were married at Christ's Episcopal Church in Tacoma. They were blessed with 65+ years of a rewarding and beautiful life together with their family.

Shirlee and Galen were parents to daughter Gretchen, currently married to Jud Hartmann and residing in Sedgwick, Maine, and of three sons and their wives; Peter & Theresa, Samuel & Julie and Andrew & Stephanie, who all reside with their children in the Seattle/Bellevue area.

The Hogenson family wishes to extend special thanks to the Hospice of the Northwest and the Visiting Angels for their very needed assistance and support.

Not sure what to say?

I forgot to end my comment to "My Mom", - your one and only daughter, Gretchen

To
Shirlee Hogenson, my mom, who I miss so very, very much. There really are no words I can say that could ever express the depth of my love for you. Rosebuds mom....

We will truly miss your contagious smile. Shirlee's bright spirit and love of family will never depart from us. She will be warmly remembered.
Love Donny, Angie, Megan & Nick

She was one individual who never hid her lamp under the bushel basket, but rather let her light shine for all to see and most importantly feel.
We were all blessed to know her!

A delightful person that I had the privilege to have met. Shirlee was always interested in others before her needs and wants. Such a graceful lady. She will be so dearly missed. Thank you Hogenson family for sharing her.

Such a loving and sweet lady with many talents and interests... Travel, piano, crosswords, entertaining, reading, and enjoying her family, to name a a few. Never far from her coffee and chocolates, Shirlee made us all smile with her little indulgences. We will miss her sweet smile.
