I just learned of Shirlene's passing. Mary and I met her at Jere's and my 50th Pem-Day reunion -- we'd been roommates there. We thought the world of Shirlene -- such a selfless, caring person -- and had stayed in touch after Jere's death. The world has lost a beautiful soul.

Shirlene was "Pickle" to me. She was one of my Dad's best friends. I grew up thinking of her as one of my friends too. We kept in touch all through the years since I left KC. I will miss her.

Shirlene was a beautiful person, inside and out, and a great friend. I had the pleasure of working with her and bonding a friendship with her. She was very kind and caring and a great inspiration to me. She will be greatly missed!
