Shuler-Marshall Funeral Home - Holly Hill Obituary

I, Miss Shirley Lee Davis, a daughter of the late Deacon Ivory Davis and Mrs. Annie Clair Washington Davis, was born on September 13, 1954 in Orangeburg County, South Carolina.  She entered into eternal rest on May 28, 2021 in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

I grew up in Orangeburg County and attended the public schools there.

At the age of 14, I was baptized at St. James Baptist Church.  I attended church there until my father became a Deacon of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church.  The family changed their membership to Springfield when our father became a Deacon at that church.

I was a member of the Young Adult Choir until I became ill and was no longer able to participate. I loved being on the choir, and I still love hearing the choir sing.  I also loved being a part of the Sunday School.  I also enjoyed hearing the word of God and tried my best to live my life by His words.

I attended St. James Elementary School until 4th grade, then went to Roberts Elementary and graduated from Roberts High School.

I was employed by Elloree Garments for 12 years.  I became disabled in 1989 and was ill for the remainder of my life.

Those who preceded me in death are: my sister, Minnie Bryant and brothers Richard Davis and Curtis Davis.

I leave to cherish my love and legacy: a son, Jerell L. Davis; four grandchildren: Ayden Davis, Ayliah Davis, Amiya Davis and Iyanna Brunson; two sisters: Carolyn (Michael) Cochran, of Haverstraw, NY and Annette (Irvin) Greene, of St. Matthews, SC; five brothers: Charles Davis, Allen Davis, Joe Nathan Davis and Jeff White, all of Holly Hill, SC and James Davis, of Bronx, NY; one uncle, Mr. Paul Jesse Washington, of Holly Hill; three sisters-in-law: Jeannette Davis, Willia Mae Davis and Ester Davis, a special firend, Dr. Ida Lemon Bailey and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

This is some disheartening news for me. Bessie have always been one of my favorite family member. I will miss her truly.

She gave us many memories as kids that could never be forgotten may she sleep in peace and to my cousin Jerelle her only child stay strong love ya

My condolences to the Davis family. Shirley had a smile that was so heart warming. The loving memories will linger forever. God bless and keep you during this time.
