Mrs. Shirley Ann Poston Brown, 87, of Mullins, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at MUSC Health Marion Medical Center. Born on March 20, 1938, in Dillon County, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Romie and Retha Poston. Shirley was a devoted wife to the late Jack Rondall Brown and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.


Shirley was an exceptional homemaker, known for her love of baking and sharing her delightful confections with everyone. Her home was always open, and she treated everyone with the same love and care as she did her family. A dedicated member of the Mullins-Marion Freewill Baptist Church, Shirley cherished her church and church family deeply.


She is survived by her children, Jeff Brown and his wife Candy, Roger Brown and his wife Tregeana, Cynthia Brown, and Steven Brown and his wife Amanda; her grandchildren, Lauren (Brent) Hasty, Colin Brown, Bri Brown, Keith (Megan) Brown, Krystal (Chris) Atkinson, Josh Brown, Ryan (Brittany) Brown, Jackie (Paul) Alford, Dustin Nealy, Samantha (Craig) Baxley, Jacob Brown, Jase Brown, Britani Murrow, and Damian Murrow; and her great-grandchildren, Brayden Hasty, Lizzy Brown, Stone Brown, Alexis Campbell, Payton Nealy, Landon Baxley, Ashlynn Baxley, Lilly Nealy, and Layla Nealy. She is also survived by her siblings, Nera Elvington, Janet Rabon, Lois Polson, Alice Cook, Linda Sealey, Margie Causey, Vickie Brown, William Poston, Jerry Poston, Michael Poston, Johnny Poston, Harold Poston, David Poston, Robert Poston, O’Neal Poston, Kim Poston, and Tony Poston, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.


Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Jack Rondall Brown, her son, Eddie Brown, and her brothers, Junior Poston and Jimmy Poston.


The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 10, from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. in the sanctuary of Mullins-Marion Freewill Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 P.M., officiated by Reverend Thad Jacobs. Shirley will be laid to rest in Devotion Gardens Cemetery, with arrangements directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins.
