Shirley was a beautiful, quiet and dignified soul. She always had a kind word for people and was a huge supporter of providing opportunities for girls and women in all aspects of baseball. I loved watching Shirley with little girls who wanted to play ball. Her face just lit up when she talked with them. I will miss you my friend!!

I was so sad to hear about Shirley's passing! She was the first player I met at an AAGPBL gathering outside of Chicago several years ago! What a great gal! Her love of the game was so electrifying! Another player called up! Find comfort she is "safe" at home! My thoughts and prayers go to her family and to the gals of the AAGPBL. She will be missed! Rest in peace Shirley! Thank you for being a trailblazer and all that you have done for women's baseball!
