Not sure what to say?

Professor Butts was my Criminal Law professor 1979-1980, and was a terrific educator. When my classmates and I won a dinner at her summer house for a fundraiser, she was an equally charming hostess. She swore me in when I passed the Bar. What an outstanding individual, and a privilege to have known. Sandra Trent McKenzie-Smith, Flagstaff, AZ

A toast to you Shirley!
Many good memories.
Much Love,
Robert & Carol

Though I'm glad you're at peace, I shed a tear for you and for us. We had many good times together with Dad and Carol and I cherish the menories. You were a good step-mother to me Shirley and I will miss you.

I had the pleasure of meeting during her last stages of life, my only regret was not knowing her sooner. God bless you my sweet Shirley. RIP

I will always remember her grace and dignity, her gentile manner when dealing with people from all walks of life. I will miss her wit, her wisdom and her warmth to those of us who were blessed by being close to her.

I served as a briefing attorney for Justice Butts in 1983 for two months until her regular attorney started. Thereafter I saw her work first hand for the rest of my term with the Court and I kept up with her in the years that followed. She was an example for all of us--highly intelligent, exceptionally ethical, dedicated to professionalism, meticulous in following existing law and wise in seeing needs for legal development. The San Antonio community and all of us whom she mentored benefited...
