Shirley Temple Cromer, 88, died Friday, April 11, 2025. Born in Craig County, Virginia to Bernie and Rhodelice Huffman, she had been a Hampton resident since 1955. She was a very active member of Pine Chapel Baptist Church. Shirley loved her family very much.


Preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Bobby and Richard Huffman; survivors include her husband of 69 years, Ernest H. Cromer, Sr.; her children, Victoria L. Flynn and husband, Denis, Susan K. West, and Ernest H. Cromer, Jr. and his wife, Michele; four grandchildren, William L. West, III and his wife, Crystal, Brittany Elizabeth Cromer and her partner, Shawn, Kaitlyn L. Graham and her husband, Andy, and Joshua Shane Cromer; three great-grandchildren, Jaxson Cromer, and Carson A. and Hunter R. Graham; three step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and a step great-great granddaughter.


The family will receive friends from 5-7pm, Thursday, April 17, 2025, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 PM, Friday, April 18, 2025, at Pine Chapel Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
