Not sure what to say?

I have so many wonderful memories of Shirley...one of the first was in 1968 when Sonny and I were still dating, she came to Illinois to visit...she and Rosey were taking all the kids to the drive in movies and they asked me and Sonny to go, well Sonny wasn't allowed to go to the movies so they came up with a wild story to tell Mom Claytor and we all piled into Shirelys car and off we went. As usual Shirley was driving fast and got distracted by one of the kids and had to slam on the brakes...

Back around 1953, I remember Shirley and Dallas Wayne Jr coming to see us when we lived in Puducah KY. Shirley always liked to live on the wild side. One night she came home all excited. She told us that she had driven a friends stock car in a powder puff race and she won. Alfredia, Rosemary and I thought that that was really cool but Mom and Dad didn't think so. They wanted Shirley to promise to never race again. She only raced one or two more times after that but Mom and Dad didn't know...

Aunt Shirley will truly be missed by so many. She loved life, and loved to make people laugh, and live life to the fullest. She would always try and help you do what ever, and when ever you needed anything she was always in your corner trying to help you feel better, and look at the situation with humor. Before it was all over and you were having a bad moment,or day if you talked to her she would have you laughing, and soon you wouldn't feel so bad. The bad turned into great laughter, kind of like...

When I think of Aunt Shirley I think of the times that she would come and visit my Mom and Dad (Sonny and Eva Claytor). It was always a fun visit because she would always have some crazy story to tell that always seemed to be different then maybe what the truth was.. And she always had her high heels that she would let me wear and play with.. To this day when I put on a pair of high heels I think of Aunt Shirley and Grandma Claytor. She will be sadly missed.

Shirley loved Chinese food. Myself, Erlene and Shirley would make a monthly trip to Kowloon's and enjoy the food and each others company. Shirley had some really great stories about her life's adventures. She also stopped by the house now and again to have a cup of coffee and chat. I remember we would take our kids over to her apartment complex and enjoy the pool with her and her grandkids. She really enjoyed the water. Shirley was a fun lady and will be missed.

What made aunt Shirley so great was that her heart was full of compassion. i know this first hand coming from a broken home. although she was never a real leader she was a champion in my life. She was always a giver even when others would take advantage of her. A true champion for the underdog- that was my aunt shirley.

Having just lost my mom in September, I know how you are feeling right now. It is such a tremendous loss when your mom passes, as she is the string that ties the family together. Our deepest sympathy goes with you. Your mom was one of the nicest people around. Gary and I have very fond memories of her and her wonderful smile. She was a great lady and it is living proof in her children as to what kind of mom she was. Take care and God speed Shirley!

I LOVED AUNT SHIRLEY. SHE WAS ALWAYS THE LIFE OF THE PARTY. I'LL NEVER FORGET THE TIME WHEN SHE AND AUNT JANICE AND AUNT ROSIE CAME RUNNING INTO THE SALON. THE THREE MUSKETEERS HAD GONE TO THE BEACH FOR A NIGHT OR TWO JUST TO GET AWAY. I'M NOT GOING TO BLAME ALL THIS ON AUNT SHIRLEY BECAUSE I'M SURE SHE DID NOT PICK OUT THE COLOR AUNT ROSIE WANTED ON HER HAIR.ANYWAY THE GIRLS WENT TO THE STORE TO BUY COLOR FOR THEIR HAIR (SINCE THEY WERE HAVING SUCH A GOOD TIME AT THE BEACH)AUNT SHIRLEY...

Aunt Shirley was and always be my favorite. She was the meaning of living life to it's fullest. She always wanted to have fun doing whatever it was she was or had to do.
When I was younger she covered my butt more than once and kept me out of trouble. I will always keep a special place in my heart of hearts for her. Us black sheep have to stick together. LOL I love and miss you Aunt Shirley.
