Shirley became a mentor in 1970 when I joined the El Camino Nursing Faculty. Working together for the next 30+ years, sharing our travel stories; she visited me in Venezuela one year when we were both enjoying our travel adventures. Eventually we both retired; and living a few miles apart, our visits continued, sharing travel memories, state-of-the-world conversations, and medical and nursing trends. We traded books and ideas, and she introduced authors I had not known; still the mentor....
