Shirley Standen Kelly, 89, of Mars died Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.She was born Nov. 19, 1929, in Mars, and was the daughter of Calvin W. I will never forget. "I am you are he she or it is. We are they are" as she walked up and down the classroom.Generations of students owe her a debt of gratitude for the greatest teacher we ever had.

My condolences to Mrs. Kelley's family. She was one of the best teachers that I had at MHS. Rest in Peace, Mrs. Kelly.

Oh no! I loved Mrs. Kelly. She was by far the best teacher I ever had.

My favorite high school teacher, not the easiest one, but the best. It sounds as though she enjoyed her retirement, and I'm glad to hear that.

My deepest sympathy to you Buzz and your family. Shirley was an inspiration to all her many students, including myself, during her years of teaching at Mars. She was one of my favorite teachers.
