I just learned yesterday of Shirley's death and want to pass on my condolences to Luann and Shirley's children and grandchildren. I went to school with Shirley through grade and high school. While I was not able to spend a lot of time with her, she was the one I called after Shirley Real passed away to see when the Golden Girls were getting together. She was just so sturdy and funny and responsible. One of my best memories besides a Halloween party in grade school in the basement of their...

Shirley was a wonderful, caring lady and she will be deeply missed. I knew her through her work with REAP, and I know the agency was very dear to her heart.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a firecracker, a force of nature, witty and friendly and as you aptly noted, compassionate. And so practical. I Cherish the opportunities I had to join your mom and mine on their morning walks around Raytown, picking up a discarded treasure or two on trash day and waving at the boys on 63rd Street. I'm so thankful that her passing was peaceful and that she was surrounded by her amazing (every one of you!)...

Latare women.... We love you all. Your mother was one of my very best friends and for many reasons including our morning walks in the street. We had many laughs and solved lots of problems. Continue the Latare Legacy. God Bless you all.
