SPRINGFIELD
Shirley M. (McKenzie), Manferdini, 98, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at Mercy Medical Center. Born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Lyman and Julia (Kennedy) McKenzie, she was a lifelong resident of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield and was a 1944 graduate of Cathedral High School. Shirley had worked at the former New England Telephone. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield, and enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was an avid reader, and loved going to the casino and Misquamicut Beach. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond H. Manferdini in 2015, two brothers, Donald J. McKenzie, Lyman McKenzie and a son-in-law, Charles Ingalls. She leaves four sons and their wives, Donald R. and Alicia Manferdini of Dedham, Kevin L. and Patricia Manferdini of Pennsylvania, Michael and Melissa Manferdini of Springfield, David G. and Stacey Manferdini of Melrose, five daughters, Linda M. Ingalls of Springfield, Carol A. and her husband, Brian Duffy of West Springfield, Nancy A. and her husband, Michael O'Connell of Framingham, Debra A. and her husband, Michael Roy of Southwick, Maryellen and her husband, John "Jay" Papianou of Ludlow, eighteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Tuesday at 9am from the Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield with a Mass at 10 at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield. The burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 4-7pm.
