Shirley M. McLeod

1928 - 2019

Shirley M. McLeod, age 91, died on Dec.24 2019 at Tidewell Hospice of Bradenton, FL. after a brave and brief battle with cancer. Shirley was born on Sept.19, 1928, in Nashua, New Hampshire. She moved at age 4 with her family to New Britain, CT. where she attended school and graduated from New Britain High. She married Arthur E. Campanelli (deceased Nov.2, 1993) on Sept.22, 1946 in St. Ann's Church, New Britain, Ct. and resided in New Britain and East Haddam where they raised a family of five. She worked in the nursing field at various facilities until retiring from the Veteran's Hospital of Newington, Ct in the mid 1990's. She lived in New Britain until moving in Dec. 2008 to Myakka City, Fl. to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Wayne Case, until her passing on Christmas Eve. Shirley is survived by her brother Robert McLeod of Navarre, Fl. her three sons Arthur E. Campanelli Jr. of Hagerstown, Md. ,David L. Campanelli of Warren, Vt. , and Richard A. Campanelli and his wife Judith of East Haddam, Ct. and her two daughters Cheryl A. Case and her husband Wayne L. Case of Myakka City, Fl. and Lisa and her husband, Micheal Peay of East Hampton, CT. She has 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She died with Christ in the hope of rising with him. Funeral arrangements and cremation were handled with Dignity by Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park, Ellenton, FL. Plans for a Memorial Service in New Britain, Ct. at a later time have not been finalized as of yet. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and or Tidewell Hospice House of Bradenton.
