Shirley Ann Meyer

I'm a columnist for newspapers in the Wisconsin Dells area. I wrote this as a tribute to Shirley. Who Made a Difference in Your Life? She wore her hair in a stylish French twist, but she could hit a softball out of the schoolyard. She was my third- and fourth-grade teacher, and I loved her. My mom Mary Kopecky and Shirley have been friends for many years. Shirley taught my 3 sisters at burbank school and at north Park. I would visit Shirley with mom at her house and enjoyed hearing all her stories. She will be truly missed. We love you Shirley.

I had "Miss Meyer" in third and fourth grade. She was a marvelous teacher. She became a family friend to my mom, Marcia Braatz Fuller, Dad, stepdad, and siblings. She helped me pick out my first dog. I remember visiting her in her apartment on the shores of Lake Michigan, and I fondly remember Misty and Joy. She will be missed.
