PRATER, Shirley J. - Of Flushing, age 68, died Thursday, October 4, 2007 at Genesys Regional Medical Centre. Funeral service will be held at 11:30AM Monday, October 8, 2007 at New Creations Church of God, 3472 Lennon Road, Flint, Reverend Dr. Mary Lloyd and Pastor Rick Flowers officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to her grandchildren's college fund. Visitation 4-8PM Saturday, 1-8PM Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mrs. Prater will be at the church from 10:30AM Monday until the time of the service. SHIRLEY ONE DAY AFTER I'D LOST MY JOB AND CHRISTMAS SEEMED A BIT BLEEK FOR MY TWO GIRLS..SHE TOLD ME ABOUT TOYS FOR TOTS AND BLESSED MY DAUGHTERS WITH MORE THAN WE COULD EVER GIVE THEM..AFTER THAT I VOLUNTEERED TO HELP HER TWO YEARS IN A ROW..AND THEN I HAD TO WORK ON THOSE DAYS..BUT I'LL NEVER FORGET HOW HER HEART TOUCH MINE AND SO MANY OTHERS...HOW HER FAMILY ALL GOT IN THERE AND SAVED THE SMILES OF LITTLE ONES ALL OVER THE FLINT AREA AT CHRISTMAS. I was so sorry to hear of your mothers passing. I believe she is in a much better place. I know she will be missed greatly. Shirley was a trail blazer and a strong union woman. She gave so much of herself to so many. My prayers are with all of her family.
